…But, where is the Boy?
American citizen stopped breathing today, following on TV a flying ghost.
The story is amazing! A six years old boy was apparently seen climbing in a helium balloon… And somehow the balloon started to fly.
American media and authorities followed with video-cameras and helicopters the home made balloon during more than two hours.
This balloon is said to has been made by the boy and his father. Looking like a space ship and built in a very fragile material.
After questioning about how to bring the balloon down and keeping the child safe, the balloon itself after a while land on. Wondering during two hours about the condition of the little boy, the media’s audience and particularly the boy’s family were thinking the end of the story is close…
But it’s an empty balloon that the world discovered on the ground!
…. Where is the boy?
The USA focused on TV. Worried about the life of this child, Media weren’t so accurate about the given information: Live on BBC News when a journalist asked his correspondent “Are we sure that the boy is on board”, the answer was “We are not 100% sure about it, but…”. However CNN’s headline earlier was “6-years-old Colorado boy floats away in balloon”.
Inside or not of the Helium Balloon, the world is now concerned about the kid: we started to tell a story to the public, they are now legitimately waiting for the “The End”.
So, where is the Boy? After being able to interview the family, we now have the confirmation that the child was playing outside with his older brother. That’s effectually his brother who saw him climbing into the experimental flying balloon. But the authorities still think that there are possibilities to find the child in his neighbourhood
To be continued… Was the child unfortunately really inside the machine and might have fallen down during the travel? or wasn’t, and maybe he is still running outside. No one at the moment knows.
However, what this story showed us, it’s the power of media: Able to gather everyone in front of their TVs. People today were worried, afraid for this little boy without name and somehow felt closer to the family. This intense way of creating feelings and move on, this is the news power.
Isn’t it a dangerous power? How to control it? Imagine the family of the boy: they don’t know what to believe: Once he is inside and now no, how to trust the media, when they are not sure about what there saying?
